Peter Bullough Foundation Donates Clothing to Shenandoah Conservatory Theatre Division

The Peter Bullough Foundation has donated the majority of the late Dr. Bullough’s clothing collection to the Shenandoah Conservatory Theatre Division. Working with Theatre Design & Production Program Coordinator, Jennifer Flitton Adams, the Foundation donated several suits, dress shirts, sweaters, vests, and pants, as well as such accessories as wool hats, embroidered suspenders, leather shoes, and silk bow ties. Throughout his life, Dr. Bullough was known as quite the dandy, with an eye for quality and a flair for distinctive patterns, frequently creating beautiful garments with the help of his tailor, Stephan Jakobovic, and purchasing unique items on trips to Europe and Asia.

A patron of the Conservatory during his many years in Winchester, “he would have loved seeing his clothing on stage, put to good use by a program whose work he so enjoyed,” says the Foundation’s archive manager, Jeffrey Albright.

Shenandoah Conservatory presents more than 300 music, theatre and dance performances during the academic year, and will reopen this summer for live in-person performances of Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre’s production of “Grease.” The SSMT season runs from Thursday, July 1 through Sunday, August 1. Tickets are currently on sale and may be purchased by visiting ssmtva.org or calling the Shenandoah University Box Office at (540) 665-4569. Summer box office hours are from noon to 5 p.m Tuesday through Saturday.

The Peter Bullough Foundation is currently hosting its first local artist-in-residence, artist Rachel Crockett Smith (rachelcrockettsmith.com), and is preparing to host nine non-local artists-in-residence on a rotating basis this fall from August through December.
