About the Event
Join us Thursday evening, November 17 from 6-8:30pm for a workshop and pizza with artist-in-residence Claudia Borfiga as she teaches attendees how to make mono screen prints. This workshop is perfect for anyone who's happy to get collaborative and to get their hands a little messy! Each attendee will create their own pieces on paper to take home. Space is very limited! Register online now to attend; tickets are $15 which helps us to cover part of the material cost. We expect tickets to sell out quickly! Please email info@peterbulloughfoundation.org if you are interested in being on the waitlist. Thank you to Valley Makers for loaning us their screen print carousel for this workshop and to the Marion Park Lewis Foundation for the Arts and First Bank for sponsoring our artist events this season!Â
About the Artist
Claudia Borfiga (she/her) is a visual artist, compelled to capture the wonders of the natural world, primarily through the medium of screen print. Supplementing printmaking with plenty of making and learning, such as playing with clay, textiles, and growing her own produce, helps to breathe fresh perspectives into her practice. Her work celebrates the treasures found in natural environments, and in creating them she hopes to foster a deeper appreciation for it. As a teaching artist, Claudia uses screen print workshops as a wide-ranging platform to foster community and for the simple joy of getting other people's hands messy. In Spring 2018, she initiated a group called Print Power to host grant-funded workshops in collaboration with local non-profits, as an alternative means to explore trauma. This has been a catalyst for other community-centred projects, such as a neighbourhood harvest that used interactive maps; collaborative volunteer painting for a public mural celebrating Earth Day; and crowd-sourced ideas for an exhibition playing with the way we view sadness. Claudia has a BFA in Textiles Design from Loughborough University. She left the UK for California in 2017, and currently resides in Colorado.
