About the Event

In this hands-on workshop led by artist Katie Prock, attendees will have the opportunity to do some personal reflection through both writing and collage-making.

Attendees should bring copies of photographs and other paper ephemera - origami, postcards, sheet music, grocery lists, printed text messages, sonograms, found images, etc. - relating to their own history and identity.

During the workshop, attendees will be guided through a self-reflective writing prompts and the creation of diaristic collages on large pieces of roll paper. The documents/images brought by attendees and the words/phrases generated in the reflective exercise will become the source materials and  inspiration for each individual's book. After the collages are created on the large rolls of paper, they will be folded down again and again to create book-sized spreads which will then be cut apart and bound into a book using a simple pamphlet stitch. Attendees will leave the workshop with a one-of-a-kind artist book about their own identity.

Please bring things you are willing to cut up, photo copies work too!

Attendance is limited for this workshop to allow for more interaction with the artist. This class has been generously sponsored by the Marion Park Lewis Foundation for the Arts and First Bank. Pizza will be served as well. We hope to see you there!
