Animate Your Own Paper Puppet!

Create your own paper puppet animation in this hands-on workshop for adults and kids ages 8 and up. Working with paper, scissors, pens, and watercolor, PBF artist-in-residence Jaime Bird will show you how to craft your very own paper puppet. Then, working together with your fellow attendees, you'll create a short 10-20 second animation with your new puppet friend. Snacks will be provided and all supplies will be included! Jaime will also provide tips on how to make future animations at home using a cell phone.

About the Artist

Jaime Bird is a multidisciplinary artist, creature collector, and aqua fanatic at heart. Using sculpture and stop motion animation, she crafts alluring underwater creatures that manifest her innermost anxieties. Through amalgamations of wit, whimsy, flights of fancy, and folklore, she weaves narrative tales that suggest a deeper personal mythology rooted in the strangeness of the human condition. She was born and raised in New England and currently lives in New Orleans, where she runs the disco ball business Midnight Zone Mirror Ball. Jaime is a longtime member of Aquarium Gallery & Studios.
